Has Iduna taken too much unjustified flak for choosing to remain silent about her past? Feels like after Frozen 2 everyone points at her as a monster, but what exactly would have changed if she had been honest about her past from the start?

Probably not much in terms of Elsa still having Ice magic and potentially injuring Anna but, the thing is, she had an obligation to her daughters and husband to tell them she knew a possible reason for why Elsa could have been born with magical powers. Instead she stayed quiet for years and allowed Agnarr to isolate their daughters out of fear. She's a terrible mother due to her inaction, she was already familiar with magic, we see her playing with Gale. The fact she didn't even approached Elsa to tell her it was alright, that she came from a family that was used to dealing with magical beings, to not make her feel so alone is what makes her a monster.
Seriously, fuck Iduna.

I have a hard time seeing her or Agnarr as that bad. Their actions are really questionable in the movies, but it strikes me as poor writing and only ignorance on the characters’ parts. Iduna should have said a lot that she didn’t, but I’m not sure she knew much more than, “I saved your father, that day.” As for the “conceal” stuff, that’s just ignorance that would be expected in those times.

I think Iduna lived her life in fear of being found out. After the mist went up, there was vicious anti-Northuldra sentiment in Arendelle, with roaming mobs burning shops and lynching suspected Northuldra sympathizers in revenge for King Runeard's death. She likely assumed a fake name and disposed of any ties to her old life.
Even when Iduna married into royalty herself, she still felt she had to keep her secret. She followed "don't feel, conceal" until just before the end.

This. In the first movie by itself, she comes off as ultimately well meaning, but clueless about what she and Agnarr are dealing with, which ends up harming Elsa despite their (lame) best effort (though one could make the argument that she still could've protested it even without/before her Northuldra heritage). But with the reveal in Frozen II that she's actually from Magic Land, she turns from well meaning but clueless to borderline abusive. She stood there and said nothing as both of her daughters suffered for years. "We'll tell them what the deal is as soon as we get back from our one way trip to the Murder Horse Sea." Fuck off with that shit.

To be fair, while yes, everyone is getting a little too horny about the subject, they do ultimately have a point. Elsa clearly got a breast reduction in Frozen II and they don't really move right. And considering they weren't reduced and they did move right in the first Frozen, it was obviously a conscious, intentional choice, because oh my God someone think of how traumatized the children would be if they knew women have breasts.
