Not too long after, the film was deemed a flop and they cut out a few sequences and most of Deems Taylor's narration. Fantasound was mixed down to mono to work with regular film theaters.
All home versions that exist today have the black centaurette Sunflower cut out (this cut was done in the '60s) and while the missing Deems Taylor footage was found his voice was dubbed over since the sound for those portions had degraded. Fantasound has never been perfectly reproduced, the closest versions are the '90s Laserdisc and the 2000 DVD.
