>>116036663I'm in Mergers & Acquisitions, so most of my work involves drafting and revising the board resolutions, contracts, non-disclosure agreements, financial documents, etc. for the sale or purchase of companies by other companies. Essentially, I do the drafting for the Gordon Gekkos of the corporate world.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVxYOQS6ggkPartners and senior attorneys will talk with the clients (executives and general counsel from the companies), but I'm just starting out, so if I'm on a call I'm typically on mute and taking notes. Otherwise I just do the drafting assignments that get passed on down to me from slightly less junior attorneys who got the work passed down to them.
If it all sounds dreadfully boring, that's because it kind of is (unless you're particularly invigorated by the complexities of corporate entities and the creative problem solving of navigating complex mergers and divestitures). It can also be A LOT of work; you are more or less never off the clock. That being said, the compensation is great and it can be a stepping stone to a cushier in-house counsel job or other position, so people put themselves through the grinder. If I'm not working in a creative field myself, then I'd at least want to work on the legal side, and this could help me get there.
