No idea if this is still the plan, but at one point Feige said that going forward, they weren't going to spend ten years building towards a single guy any more. They'd probably spend one phase building towards a threat, then have it resolved with an Avengers movie.
They still have stuff to work with. There's Kang, Galactus, Annihilus, The Beyonder, the Calculator, they've got options.

Are you fucking blind? Thanos was wanked so much. The event Infinity was half his story, he then was in stuff leading up to Secret Wars. The Guardians of the Galaxy constantly had Thanos threats. There was also Bendis using him for that Avengers Assemble book. Thanos even had his own ongoing. And that's all ontop of Starling using him. Thanos has been used a ton this past decade, and that's just the comics.

He has a specific plan for how he comes to control the whole planet in the future where he lives. When people fuck with time, he loses his control, and goes to try to stop them. Personally I think he mostly sucks, but I'm sure you could do something fun with the character.

For me Galactus is largely a vehicle for Silver Surfer to show up in...or ahead of, WHATEVER. Yea a fight with Galactus is, meh (thanks Ultimate Nullifier). But the build up that comes from the Heralds is always satisfying.

Honestly, Thanos should be the end of it; that's what an Endgame does, it wraps shit up. Sure, comics stories can go forever, which is really to their detriment as coherent stories, but actors get older and inevitably choose to move on to different things. There's only so many times you can build up all this hype before it becomes by the numbers, and even doing it twice in film form would take a long fucking time.

Everyone who posted Doom ITT is right. Disney literally got the Fantastic Four's rights back just in time. Not because of the FF themselves, but because Doom is the only villain who could have the buildup and payoff of Thanos. Hell, Doom could wind up being BETTER than Thanos if they do him properly. Thanos only shows up in a meaningful way when it's time for the Infinity Gems storyline. But Doom could have the "ultimate boss" factor of Thanos while also actively engaging with the MCU heroes on his way to the top of the ladder. That's what Doctor Doom does. Doom banters and fights and spars with the heroes while he's still somewhat weak, and THEN he achieves awesome power and lords it over everyone who beat him when he was weaker. Doom is exactly what they will do. They're already planning to foreshadow Latveria in the recent MCU stuff.

it would be pretty based if we see Doom as a side character in his debut first but the post credit of that movie reveals that Doom has been scavenging Ultron bots, trying to search any remnants of Ultron, and upon finding one, Ultron immediately ceases control of the bots, turning their eyes red, but Doom retaliates, revealing he has access to sorcery and turns the bots unto his side, turning their eyes into green, and turning the bot with ultron in it into an armor so Ultron becomes his jarvis.
