>>115852807Very few but they exist. >Nigerians in Japan (?????????, Zainichi Naijeriajin) form a significant immigrant community, with around 2800 living in the country, mostly belonging to the Nigerian Union in Japan which is divided into sub-unions based on states of origin. The vast majority of Nigerians arrived in Japan from the mid-1980s onwards.
There are a lot of Brazilians too to the point where some areas you have signs in Portuguese
https://youtu.be/5SLKzvEGhd0Most of them have some sort of Japanese ancestry but that can range from Brazilians with Japanese ancestry from both sides of the family to Brazilians who have one Japanese grandparent and don’t look Japanese at all or Brazilians married to them (and their kids) there are Brazilians with no blood of conjugal ties with Japan as well but they aren’t as numerous.
That said Japanese police is often seen as pushovers. For example in a case where a guy tried to attack a police officer who ordered him to drop the weapon and only after not dropping and kept coming toward the police shot him in the thigh and one of the internet comments were >Good on the cop. The Japanese police should use their guns more often so they are not seen as pushovers.
That said it seems like BLM protests in Japan were organized by Americans living in Japan.
>My fellow organizers and I are happy to bring the importance of the Black Lives Matter movement to the forefront here in Japan. I’ve found that many Japanese people love American culture, but they aren’t always aware of what’s really going on there.https://www.japantimes.co.jp/community/2020/06/08/voices/why-marching-black-lives-japan-protests/#.XvI_byVJaaM
