No matter how hard they try, this is still a show about kids playing in the woods. And that conceptually is less interesting than a show with actual stakes.
That doesn't make this show bad, but this "Lore" isn't going to interest anyone. We all just watch this because we find it a fun show about kids playing around. That's it. There is no point in theorizing anything or going in-depth because the content isn't interesting enough.
SU was dogshit and way worse than this, but the concept of gems and Homeworld is fucking awesome. They wasted it entirely, but you could totally get invested in the show to find out stuff about the lore and everything.
This show was never going to be that big from the start, and it never aimed to be that. It wanted to be a solid kids show and that's that.

I guess the big question is how much influence would the king have over the rest of the Creek?
I mean he controls his side with candy. And candy's pretty easily attainable on our side of the creek, (Bobby's always holding). It doesn't feel like he's that big of a threat. And even if he does make it over to Craig's side of the creek, he risks his own men turning against him.

I had a creek. Me and my friends played with sticks and ripped down all the bramble bushes. We called it Stick-a-marouges (i'm pretty sure I came up with that name). Every now and again other neighbors or his little sister would follow us but usually it was just the two of us. There was even a clearing with broken parts and stuff that we called the clubhouse (or basecamp I can't remember). We also would sometimes sneak onto the farm on the other side of the creek. Mess with the goats and cows and run away cuz goats and cows are scary.

Not really. CN's new thing seems to be organizing their shows into 40-episode seasons. Happened with Apple & Onion, Summer Camp Island, and Mao Mao. Last night's episode was #81-82, making it the start of a new season.

It'd be great if the episodes weren't all out of order, though. The change in title card designs made that clear long ago.

AND a therapist AND a slightly clearer path in life. Quit trivializing how SU Future dealt with Steven's issues. The show gave the audience closure by leaving Steven with the tools he needed to forge a better path for himself: some time to distance himself from Beach City/Crystal Temple for a while, and the knowledge that his friends and family will always be there for him like he was for them.

A therapist we didn’t meet and a path in life that was set to him off screen.
Steven ALWAYS had the tools to better himself from the beggining of Future but spent 20 episodes being a bitch about it until they hugged him hard enough and he calmed down. The crystal gems already gave him the solution for his problems in the first 10 episodes and he ignored that until they reminded him of that AGAIN in the last two episodes. The whole thing was a repetitive and predictable waste of time.
And as mentioned before, the timeskip ruins any effort to portray trauma because the real solution happens off screen. The message is the same shit as always: love and friends are the answer. It doesn’t offer anything new or groundbreaking, it’s the same lesson every kids cartoons does.

That was the point. HE was his own obstacle. Those identity issues and that lack of direction in his life took a toll on his mental health, and seeing Connie and all his Beach City human friends moving on to bigger things without him as an active part of them made Steven fall even deeper into his Diamond madness.

SU Future was in no way repetitive since it cast the character of Steven in a new setting with newer, more grounded and adult issues he had to face. That group hug was what effectively drilled into his mind that he never had to worry about his support system "leaving him." They will always be his family, and he can now feel free to explore his own dreams and goals outside of that centuries-long Gem prophecy he'd developed his whole persona around up until this point.

And that "path in life that was set to him off screen" follows the movie's theme that change is an endless process. Happily ever after never ends.

But that’s what they did all season long. All season the gems where there supporting him and asking to help him, and the finale is just...them doing it again. Instead of showing some complex tactic to help depressed people that would be innovative, they just repeat what they where doing all season long. Instead of being mature for once and showing a more real answer that isn’t just “love fixes everything” they go for the generic Disney message.
And Future doesn’t follow the movies themes because in the movie Steven learned that he would never be 100% happy and had to accept change. And in Future they completely forget that.

Seven years later and people are still making complaints about SU's Gem tech negating any of Rebecca's story decisions. You sound just like the people who call the show shit simply because the Diamonds were forgiven and reformed rather than destroyed. I get that they did some fucked up experiments on their race and their colonies, but this resolution was chosen to present the moral that sometimes "villains" can be dealt with through conversation and understanding, revealing that said villain's own internal issues might've led to their misguided actions. It's a good moral that audiences can learn from. Whether or not you think that the Diamonds' endgame shouldn't have taken the backseat so the Crewniverse could drive that moral home is up to you, but you can at least understand where those decisions come from and why one of the two choices had to be made.

In SU Future's case, you're overanalyzing the clear theme of an adolescent taking a different path in life from their friends', while still knowing that they'll keep in touch. Gem portal technology is irrelevant, and you're just finding excuses to call the ending stupid.

I'll admit that the original five seasons have proven that SU could've tackled a deeper resolution to Steven's PTSD than with a simple redundant hug (same thing happened in "Little Graduation"). You've got a point there. But reminding a troubled friend/relative that they aren't alone and that you'll always have their back is still one of many ways to aid in a person's PTSD, just a surface-level way.

Nope. Future made sense for Steven's character since he now had no idea what he would do with his life. Having Lars and everybody else move off to bigger things through him for a loop and made him freak out even more. This was a story about Steven having to face the music and understand that shit like this happens as people change; they can't all stay in the same Beach City forever.

"Diamond madness" is just what I call the act of Steven losing sight of his potential future opportunities and instead falling back into thinking he's nothing more than a Diamond again. I don't know what the fandom calls it, and I couldn't think of any other way to refer to it lol

Because they do. Ignoring things that geniuenly exist in the show. Maybe youre dumb enough that bad world building and plot holes dont matter to you, but most people do notice these things and rightfully criticize the show for it.

When watching Future, the only thing I found remotely interesting is that "love and kindness" wasnt working on Steven, so I assumed the answer was going to be something real and complex. But then the gems just did the exact same shit they did before and it was fixed.
If the gems acted as complete assholes for 20 episodes and only started caring about Stevens problems in the last two episodes, then maybe the lesson would have worked because only THEN the gems are willing to help him. But they didnt do that, so the whole message of Future is dogshit

THAT WAS DEALT IN THE MOVIE YOU GENIUS. Spinel and the planet being destroyed was just the dramatic way of telling that message: things change, not everything will be exactly as you want to but thats ok. Lars moving out shouldnt be something that freaked Steven out because the MOVIE WAS ABOUT HIM LEARNING THAT LESSON.

You're still not listening. There were two ways to approach the relatable aspects of Steven Universe: either stick to the show's Gem tech logic and muffle the overall themes, or risk that already built-in logic in order to emphasize those themes more clearly. The Crewniverse chose the latter, and you can either love it or hate it, but don't act like the decision wasn't justified. Rebecca didn't throw out some of the underlying portal technology for no reason. She wanted the audience to relate to how a growing boy like Steven felt once he had to finally accept that his friends wanted to live their own lives, Connie included.

Your only valid complaints are about the Diamonds getting away with their crimes scot-free and Future's inconsistency with the Gems being there for Steven the entire 20-episode run, making "I Am My Monster" fall flat. But again, the former can be explained by my previous paragraph about universal themes taking over the show's sci-fi rules (as well as the convenience of the Diamonds being Steven's "family," which could understandably piss off some viewers), and the latter can be explained by Steven being the villain of SU Future. He was dealing with so much mentally that he repeatedly wouldn't even listen to the Gems whenever they offered help.

SU Future was an EPILOGUE SERIES. The ultimate send-off to the world and characters. The movie didn't have every Townie moving away to do their own thing, so Future followed that resolution by actually showing Steven work through those bittersweet farewells and finally start working on himself now that the world was no longer in danger from powerful foes (just silly one-off rogues like Bluebird or that terraforming Lapis).

Basically, the movie was about becoming your own individual and Future was about taking the steps to forge your newly found path.

But it could have been. If Future had been the movie then it would have been perfectly fine because yes, at the end of the original SU Steven did not learn to accept change. He always got what he wanted and was right about everything.
But by making Future alongside the movie, the overall messages of accepting change got mixed, and we end with two stories that are saying the exact same thing. But one of them is canonically set before the other, so at least you can give the movie the benefit of happening earlier. Future doesnt have that because its set after the movie, where he already learned that message.

Lars leaving would have created the same reaction to Steven: something from his perfect life is changing and hes not cool with it. Future even ends with a song about Steven confident in dealing with any problems that will come to him because "Happily ever after never ends" , but then in Future he cant handle that. Like I said, its like the movie never happened, but it did.

You're absolutely right. But Future further explored what the movie introduced. It wasn't retreading the same steps. The movie made Steven fully understand the concept of change, while Future made him come to accept change.

And I say Future is about "taking the steps to forge your newly found path" because Steven had to go through the pain of saying goodbye to all his friends in order to set out on his own ventures separate from Beach City and the Gems. Future was both a final farewell to all the characters we know and love, while also concluding Steven's arc of self-discovery. Some things could've been done differently (especially Jasper's redemption), but the whole franchise overall was pulled off really well. Star vs the Forces of Evil is the shitty attempt at an overarching story that lost sight of the morals it wanted to tell.

Future doesn't really explore it further when he just learns the same message again. It doesn't offer any interesting insight or reflection that we didn't know before. Thats not how you do stories of self descovery.
At least in the movie HE learned the lesson by himself and took a decision to better himself. In Future it happened off screen. And that decision ruins the whole point of Future.

Yes, let's end this. I blame everyone involved in the main writing team from the crewniverse that wrote anything beyond S3. Ian is the only one who saved his ass because he left before it became a trainwreck.
To bring it back to COTC, I do think the writing they have fits more to this type of show where the stakes are lower and any plot problem wouldn't really be that big of a deal. And I think they learned from SU that you have to explore your world and not put the characters above everything if you really are going to have "lore". The way they handled the history of the creek is great because they established that the fun adventures are the reason we see the show first, the past of the creek is secondary. Even if this show had no lore, it would be just as good. Having characters and locations with background makes it even better. I would like to believe the COTC creators and Ian are all aware of how shit SU really was and learned from their mistakes to make better shows on their own.

Guy who manages the MEGA here, for whatever reason TVSmash is way behind on releasing eps to the scene (they did the first two of the bomb earlier this month but nothing after), and losssless Amazon rips aren’t easy to do and the method of doing so is a closesly guarded secret. iTunes is easy, but Amazon is much better encoding quality.
Can only hope they catch up sooner or later, it’s only been a couple weeks after all, but I have no method of contacting them and inquiring about the status of further rips

This show has legit stakes though. Yeah, it may not mean the end of the world but a war is coming. A war that will end "THERE" world as a mad king is going to bring his army of anime-ish characters to conquer there side of the creek.
This show has a good story progression that worth following, Legit world buildings worthy of theorizing and dramatic twist and turns.

I can understand being uncomfortable with the implication, but there’s nothing wrong with it if that’s what they’re passionate about.
My mom loves fancy French baking pans, my dad likes novel tools (he specifically asked for an LED work light last Christmas and was much more enthused with it than his more “fun” gifts), it’s not sending a message like “get back in the kitchen” or whatever if it’s based on what they sincerely enjoy.
That being said, you can always balance it out with a bottle of whatever their favorite alcohol is
