>>115693741the problem with bvsu is that they seem to have cut out bruce's motivation and left nothing in its stead.
this is why i'm excited that we may be getting a suicide squad redux.
bruce's motivation and arc in bvsu really only make sense if damaged joker is actualy brainwashed robin.
bruce's 1 percent speech is wholly unconvincing and out of character.
permanently scarring criminals is also out of step with the most well known versions of batman.
bruce's turn once he realizes he's misjudged superman only makes sense if the audience sees a connection between that and how bruce has been changed.
the fact that bruce has been changed is not well established. two old guys saying batman has 'changed' is not enough to establish this if batman doesn't seem to recognize it and we only see familiar hints to bruce's familiar past. robin's desecrated suit appears in the shadows for like 3 seconds, which is nowhere near enough to establish a motivation for batman.
he calls himself a criminal, but again this is out of step with the most well known versions of batman.
it just seems grim dark for no reason. idiots called the dark knight dark but that's because they're fucking idiots and functionally illiterate. i do realize the irony of this sentence, fuck you.
its not the fact that tdk is dark that makes it great, it's the fact that it plays these characters completely straight and makes them believable that is awesome.
batman without his mission is just a warlord. batman with his mission is still technically a criminal vigilante but at least he has some sense of what ought to be; to protect the good and innocent, not just to eliminate evil.
the batman we see in bvsu is this sad, morose, torturing asshole, husk of a man who seems to be a prick to superman for no reason.
