The most upsetting thing about all this is that it's making Marvel hesitant to reissue a lot of old Punisher stuff. Someone in a /shelf/ thread a while ago said that Omar was told by a Marvel rep he's friends with that they're not going to reprint any old issues of Punisher Armory because of what a shitshow everything in the US has turned into during the last few years. The JRJR Warzone stuff from the early '90s is long OoP as well so I wouldn't be shocked if they hold back on that, too.

Punisher is a violent vigilante who murders people for petty crimes. He's not fucking Superman. What did you think you were making back in the 70s when you came back from seeing Death Wish and had 3 hours to finish your Spider-Man script for that month? How the fuck is it even conceivable that a character like the Punisher can be a left wing symbol, or a symbol of racial justice? Politically speaking he is an inherently reactionary right-wing character, an extremely dark anti-hero at best. There is a reason he was introduced as a villain. Honestly the cops understand the character better than Gerry Conway does if this is what he wants to do with him.
