>>115536736>Even if there was no wage gap, male dominated work culture doesn't allow women any breathing room to enjoy their jobs.>Once again, why would you want to go to work with a bunch of people who think less of you just because you've got a vagina and nothing else?eh, yes and no. I am a man and I've recently had misogyny work against me in a promotion. See, I am the middle child of two girls. My behavioral and linguistic patterns are pretty female. I solve problems more like a woman than a male because of my upbringing around women.
I interviewed for a leadership position and in my exit interview for not getting it, I was told that I lacked the expertise (a common excuse to not promote women) for the position even though I had worked in that department for 6 years.
Skip forward 3 weeks and in a morning meeting, they promote a dumbass from a completely different department to that position. Why did they do it? They perceived him to be more masculine. Which I normally perceived and rude and stupid. He would run his mouth in meetings about things he knew nothing about. He would energetically perform tasks that made problems worse or added no benifit. And he was rude and pushy, treating others as being beneath him.
But where I saw an asshole, they saw a go getter. A leader.
This is what really hurts women. Their behavior is seen as inferior and male behaivor superior. It has nothing to do with your vagina.
And I don't like it any better than you do. My caring, intelligent approach to work is seen as week and it hinders me in advancing, while fools and blowhards are seen as strong and capable. I feel like a loki surrounded by aggressive mean thors.
