>>115525233Lola is probably a good comparison because despite the fact Bugs went gaga over her, I don't recall her specific character revolving around how hot she was. Obviously it was the basis for a lot of her interactions with Bugs, but no one really beyond that. Lola was one of those old, kind of bland, generically competent female characters that tended to get introduced. Her being turned into a wacky gag character in the later incarnation wasn't really removing the point of the character, because the real point of the character only existed in a cultural context that's like two decades old by this point.
Minerva's joke not being about how gaga guys are over her would be more of a change, and a pointless one. If you're worried about modern reactions, the OP comic seems the ideal way to go. You play up how ludicrous the attraction gets and create comedy off of this obsession. The joke becomes about how completely absurd this attraction is and the stupidity of the people who are caught up in it, and Minerva herself a goofy looney tune playing off of it, and not just some bimbo there for "Awooga" bits. People will still complain, but they always do. If any complaints at all are a problem, just don't use her. You're not exactly going to have to.
