As a black man, these help me understand the show better with the help of some psychedelic drugs I took earlier today
Ed Wunkler III is a parody of George W. Bush Jr. and Gin Rummy is Donald Henry Rumsfeld. They ARE portrayed as stereotypical black thugs, but that's because the writer of the show is trying to level with the audience on what kind of people they , the government, really are: Thugs. To an generic person or an NPC, a thug would be poor, uneducated, lives in ghettos, and most likely "not white". Ed and Gin are none of those, but still portray themselves as thugs abusing other people for their own gain.
In the episode "Guess hoe's coming to dinner" , Ed and Gin was supposed to go to the suspect's house and take him in to jail. Problem solved. Tom would be free. However, Ed and Gin we're like "fuck that, lets gets food and beer". Ed and Gin being a parody of Bush Jr & Rumsfeld comes to play alot harder. The store is supposed to be any Middle Eastern country invaded by United States (ED and Gin). Ed stealing from the convenient store owner, the same guy his father/grandfather helped built , tries to side track the whole plot and say "Oh no! I know you can't see it, but he has a gun (WMD) and the store owner is a terrorist" , thus creating a false flag attack. All that for beer and snacks ( O I L ). In the end, Ed being white and rich can let him get away with causing dangerous acts and people will applaud them for it for no reason. That leaves Huey dumbfounded. Yet, Tom Dubois is arrested and charged for a crime he had no part of at all. Him being a prosecutor instead of a lawyer, white wife, raising a child, him behaving like a neutral family man who is too kind to people, especially to whites, did not matter when the chips are down.
