>>115399197Pink Diamond was a child for most of her life, despite it being possibly hundreds of thousands of years or longer. Almost all of her mistakes came from that period.
That’s the problem, we saw what Amethyst is like both in the present and as a reset. As I said before, Pink was most likely Overcooked too so she was exactly that and with the limitless powers of a god, but born in a society where everyone is born preprogrammed and nobody says what they really think or feel due to a combination of fear and belief in their sacred role in society, including White herself at the top fearing the collapse of order itself.
She didn’t think any Gem but herself had true free will until Garnet Fused, and Pearl revealed true seditious thoughts and fantasies. She didn’t think the other Diamonds understood “low” emotions, arguably to the end.
Its heavily implied that cracking Volleyball taught her that she’s even capable of hurting other beings at all.
But there’s one MASSIVE hint to her character growth by the time she was Rose fulltime. We only saw Yellow and Blue attack with their single power, and demonstrated complete ignorance to basic things about themselves. They were so unobservant that even Eyeball noticed Steven’s Gem wasn’t that of a real Rose Quartz but they couldn’t recognize the shade and shape that ONLY Pink possessed. Finally they were so tactically deficient that despite having the only airforce, outnumbering the Rebels by an uncountable amount, and being nearly indestructible themselves they couldn’t actually make gains on Earth. When they came to the beach at the wedding, they didn’t bring a single soldier even and allowed themselves to be kept physically at bay by four footsoldier Gems once their destabilizing/grief powers stopped working.
In other words, Pink went from the toddler among teenagers to the only Diamond who was an actual adult.
