voltron was a Grandiose Space Opera with military and even political plots and the tale of people resiting against oppression and invaders. With Giant Robot. And in that regard, it did great from start to finish.

It wasn't out of nowhere, it was build up for several episode. And while I would have preferred an happy ending for Allura, that nothing is eternal and war doesn't go without sacrifice seems on-point with the show.

Fuck, I wanted Shimon and Nia to have an ending and spend the rest of their live together in Gurren Lagann, but apparently, most consider the ending we got was the Kino one.

Not really, as a multi shipper catradora fag, a good few of them cared less about Catradora and more about fandom discourse. Those 5 POAS at least sold, since they were aimed at childless adults and not children like the show was originally intended to be, before Noelle Stevenson made it her fan-fiction. This was supposed to be a reboot of a line of dolls that were essentially Barbie, but with fantasy and adventure elements, but still had brushable hair and other very obviously girly things. 8/10, loses points because a lot of the characters are still pretty one dimensional by the end. 52 I believe total episodes. Season 1 is the weakest, mostly episodic just kind of introducing us to characters for the most part. Season 2 is an improvement and 3-5 sprint along quite well. Generally each season has been better than the last in my opinion, in terms of general quality, you might like one season's story over another.

Animation improves, again season is pretty weak in that, season 5 looked pretty good, nothing amazing but decent workhorse animation. Plays around with some decent worldbuilding, a lot of references to old She-Ra stuff. Characters are gonna be the high point the main cast of Catra, Adora, Glimmer, and Bow (later Scorpia) are well developed and enjoyable. Humor is hard to judge, I found a lot of stuff pretty funny, especially in this past season. Dialogue, voice work, pacing, and all those general quality elements all tended to improve as the seasons went on.

I also enjoyed it. It was a combination of Catra realization that she wanted that connection with someone after her Season 4 journey where she got everything she thought she wanted and it was hollow as fuck, and then Adora finally deciding not to let Catra's shit slide. Shit like Catra moping on the spaceship telling Adora to fuck off, season 1-3 Adora would have just left, causing the rift to stay, but this season Adora fucking threw Catra off her bed and told her to stop with her shit so Catra was forced into actually reaching out.

I can easily buy Catra being gay for Adora. She's been obsessed with her since episode 1 and Adora is pretty much the only positive thing she's ever had in her life. And even when she wanted to outright kill Adora, it was always in a creepy possessive rejected-lover kind of way.

But I don't believe for a second Adora gives a fuck about Catra in any romantic context whatsoever. The only thing she was ever concerned with throughout the entire series was saving the world and "doing what's right." She gave up on redeeming Catra after a single season, and for most of the show after that she hardly thought about her. And for the very brief amount of screentime the two are on good terms, Adora never shows Catra any kind of affection or compassion she hasn't shown multiple other characters on multiple occasions.
The only proof of Adora preferring Catra I can think of is the fact that Adora's "perfect world" when reality was collapsing was a timeline where she never found the sword and lived happily as Catra's bestie/sister. But that's not exactly romantic love, is it?

Yeah? Adora and Catra didn't have the same mother. Catra seemed to want Shadow Weaver as a mother figure, possibly because she wanted to be Adora, but Shadow Weaver was only ever really motherly toward Adora. Catra was just the annoyance that latched on to her perfect angel daughter.

Thing is, Shadow Weaver was seemingly the sole female authority to figure for all the Horde recruits. The only one she actually acted as a mother toward was Adora. Catra just wanted that. It's pretty clear that not everyone in the Horde felt that way, and it must have been Catra's desire for approval that made her see the situation that way.

But a person simply isn't your mother because you look up to them and want their approval. And their own actual daughter isn't your sibling because of this either. Even if you see them that way or want things to be that way, they're not.

The horde had multiple teachers training the cadets, Shadow weaver just gave special attention to Adora and Catra, to former because she saw potential in her, the latter because she could use her to manipulate the former or maybe she really did see herself in Catra
So the circumstances made her specifically their mother figure
