Does Sephiroth actually hate Cloud?

In every game where they fight each other it seems like he holds back and could easily kill Cloud if he wanted to.

what we see of sephirot it's just the remnants of his ego after being consumed by the jenovah hivemind, he was very powerful but he was killed by cloud in the reactor so he has this obsession with him but his goal its not to kill cloud but to have him submit and become another vessel for jenovah

He has plans for cloud so yes he could easily beat him in remake thats why he says "not yet" after he knocks his sword from his hand. I would say cloud is more powerful by the end of ff7 tho and sephiroth was not holding back then...unless remake sephiroth is from the future and him losing was part of his plan all along or some shit
