Let's take lord of the rings for example, not /co/ but still. The whole ww2 interpretation is terribly interesting, I even support it, but I really love that Tolkien himself didn't want the work of his life to be reduced to just "a ww2 allegory" because that's just shallow. Nothing more. The reason so many people resonate and care about his works is because there's so much meaning to be found, it's 'deep', to use a stupid overused word.
/co/ media can do this too, just look at watchmen.
But no.
That tumblr drawing is the author going "here's a shallow and uninteresting message that I'll make some art around", he didn't find ideas as he was making it, he didn't develop the understanding of the work or anything like that, he might as well have written "I'm gay fuck you" on a piece of paper.
I don't give a shit about the gay agenda, I want to make that clear. I am very much a faggot who sucks dick like OP, I just don't like loud, annoying people who want attention and to be "analized" and "studied"; that narcissism really gets on my nerves, and lately I can't escape it.
Tl;dr: art nowadays is shallow because people make it with a simple intent instead of an abstract idea to be though about afterwards
