>>114814281It's because it's Bandai/Toei's largest property even without an ongoing show. They can financially stand to not be producing the show 24/7 until the end of time because Dragon Ball is an evergreen property and in the top 5 or 10 franchises of all time for generating revenue.
That, and Super's production was absolutely fucking cursed. Less than a third of the preproduction of other shows, with the shittiest schedule and the worst oversight leading to rushed episodes with poor artwork and bad writing. They're probably letting the Dragon Ball Super manga run its course for an arc or two while hammering out production details for a potential continuation. We know they don't want Yamamuro back on as a chief animation sueprvisor, which is why they basically relegate him to advertisements and brought on Shintani to do Broly.
Shintani is currently working on One Piece and most of the old DBZ/DBS staff is working on the new Digimon, so I wouldn't be surprised if after Digimon ended we got a new Dragon Ball.
