>>114692546Adding on to the dragon episode, it’s clear how the difference between the quality of a season 1 episode and season 4 episode has changed.
The setup is similar to a ‘classic’ RnM episode: Morty asks Rick for something supernatural and what he winds up getting is way worse than what he expected: The robot sex doll is actually a part of an alien matriarchy conspiracy, the dog helmet (his dad’s fault this time) makes the dog too smart and dogs take over the world and force humans to live as pets
Its not hard to find a monkey’s paw solution to Morty’s desires, but the ‘twist’ with the dragon is a joke that is repeated again and again—dragons are sluts. Whoopee. They get trapped in a fantasy world and rely on slutty dragons to escape
Things that would have been better than that:
>Dragons are being pimped out (as the episode showed) but instead of making constant jokes about the same subject Morty feels awful for buying a fantasy prostitute and forces Rick to help him free the dragon sex workers through some sort of infiltration plan>Or, for whatever reason Morty wound up with the only sexually deviant dragon and tries to get it swapped out. But since he signed a magical contract he has to go through an entire bureaucratic nightmare culminating in a fantasy legal battle to get his contract annulled so he can get a new dragon who doesn’t want to fuck his grandpa
