>>114473976I didn't mind UAF, honestly I didn't. Sometimes i even quite enjoyed it. It honestly had some good ideas
>Ben is older and more mature>He willingly retired the watch in order to be a normal kid>There's a secret alien invasion of earth that Ben has to fight But when it was created, Dwayne McDuffie (it's head writer) clearly felt the need to make some completely unnessecary changes to the lore, in order to "leave his mark" on it
>The Plumbers aren't a secret alien hunting organization based on Earth, they're an intergalactic police force. Whoops guess that managed to slip Max's mind for five years
>There's no such thing as magic, silly. It's just mana. totally different. Gwen, forget that you own a spellbook for the next two seasons, m'kay? They eventually had to backtrack on this, but they still tried to push it for a while
>Humans can mate with Aliens! Some sorry woman got fucked by a Heatblast and, not only did she survive, she actually had a kid
Guess humans' real power was promiscuity all along
>Kevin's dad was an alien! And a Plumber! I guess somehow Max never figured out that the kid who looked just like his old partner, and had the exact same powers, was related.
One of the biggest complaints that I hear concerning Omniverse is that it "retconned too much". It did not. All it did was reconcile the vastly different lore we got in UAF with the original stuff from the OS.
On top of the lore issues, I personally can't really stand UAF's artstyle or animation. Everything is so dark, and there is a SEVERE amount of copy/paste going on in scenes. Especially when there are crowds of aliens. The artstyle, while it is definitely trying to be an evolution of the OS style, does not capture the same je ne sais quoi of the original. The animation is very stilted, as well, especially in fight scenes.
I could continue, I have a lot to say on the subject. But I'm almost out of characters
