War is an inherently chaotic endeavor, your plans need to take into account the other side's plans even as they plan around what they think you're planning. The larger and more complex an operation is the more of that chaos it has to contend with.
Ultimately, when an operation succeeds we tend to ignore the things that went wrong and could have been done better, focusing instead on those parts that went as planned. When an operation fails we often analyse in great detail the mistakes that were made and ignore the successes achieved.
But with all of that being said I do agree that Market Garden was a prime example of a military shitshow.
