>>114432345>>114432943I think a lot of people kind of miss that she was Overcooked, same as Amethyst, and it shaped her mistakes.
Remember how reset Amethyst was? That’s how Pink began. She had to be taught EVERYTHING by a race born knowing who they are, and was expected to be the epitome of perfection.
You see how Yellow and Blue were frustrated trying to teach her to be like them, how she basically had no job. How the only praise she got was being their shared Pearl by organizing parties for them, and their shared Spinel by entertaining them and making them laugh. Followed by being angry at her for going too far with jokes, trying to reach above her nonexistent station, and her incessant demands for a colony which is the thing that basically defined what a Diamond does.
Recall that the essence of Diamonds is used to create Gems. All three of them used her “children” such as Blue’s Rubies and Yellow’s Amethysts, and didn’t give her minions of her own from them.
Because of their inability to communicate things and her lack of born awareness, she saw organic life as equivalent to Gem life and thought they didn’t feel emotions like she did. Contrast with Garnet always telling Steven she loves him, something she thought other Diamonds just didn’t feel.
Its no wonder she fucked up so much. She didn’t know Gems could hurt until she hurt her Pearl so badly it left psychological damage. She didn’t know Gems could change what and who they are until she met Garnet, and only then started to value Gems as people. She only learned the Diamonds loved her when instead of making the logical choice to blockade Earth and bury knowledge of its existence they tried to avenge her. Despite living on Earth for approximately 6000 years it took her ages to understand biologicals and even though she had human friends it took almost as much time to get how fragile they are.
Pink’s life is a tragedy of lack of communication, and slow learning as a result.
