>>114439002>characters can have conflict without being 'jerks'You have such a narrow idea of what a story can be. You think character development can only happen in a couple of episodes or several years. You think if a character is something other than nice, they're a jerk.
How about Eda gets crazy jealous when Luz has other friends? How about Gus is so eager to learn about human shit, he ends up coming across as stalker-ish and Luz gets annoyed by his antics. How about Willow has such a gift and soft spot for plants, she ends up involving many dangerous plants in her social circle and doesn't realize just how dangerous they are? That would be a decent reason why she's a social outcast instead of introducing and dropping the "half-witch Willow" thing in the same episode.
As it is now, everyone is understanding, kind, mildly misunderstood, or at the very worst, a bit of a prankster. It's absolutely dull when the Twins are introduced as a mischievous type and then become harmless dorks in their next episode. Lillith is presented as this threatening figure, but then her intro episode ends with her getting punked by Eda. Security guards gasp when they see her coming, but then she gets easily body swapped with a dog by Eda. The Warden is this scary figure, but then is actually just hopelessly in love with Eda and loses a ton of his scary facade.
This is supposed to be a demon realm where residents live on the bones of a giant and everything is trying to eat you, but the people living here are fucking nicer than real people on Earth. It's insane how safe this show plays with its characters.
