Personally I dislike the show because of how heavily it relies on its formula despite lampshading it all the time. It tries to convince its audience that it's smart because it defies convention, but the fact of it is that it sticks entirely to those conventions. There's never any progression or development for the characters over the course of the show, despite having ample opportunity to do so. Other cartoons at the time proved that it was possible to create long-term storylines for characters and settings, but "Phineas and Ferb" almost seemed to WANT to be regressive.
