They may be aware of their own shortcomings and yet they yearn for that prince, for that king & queen of the school ball while everybody cheers for them and "stacy and her sidekicks" bite their nails out of jealousy, that next day when all the girls of school ask her how was her last night with "chad". They know well that they can't have "chad" (unless they attain witch powers and "charm" man into liking them) so they go for the closest thing out of the group of nerds or generally outcasts that may resemble a "chad", even if it's a 1/10th, slowly mold them to be their ideal "prince" while spinning the webs around that sucker, less he not turn too good for her.
Remember "shane"? That prototype character from the pilot who got split in two and then muddied ("brownified") into "token black" & "latino representation" by nutflex? Those characters are very contrary to Reggie, "token black", due to being the "oh so black yet somehow so smart, but so black ARE WE SJW ENOUGH YET?" of the three, did not share the other two's hobbies, Reggie's first interaction with her was practically "lol wtf r u gtfo muh autism island kid!" by the end of the episode it was "guess since you somehow made it her and have fly powers i'll have to put up with your shit" and the "token latino" character often gets into fight with her by calling her shit out and wanting out of the autismo to pursue some normie booty. Yet, her character becomes an even worst of a cringeful wreck when she's alkne by herself, which is why by the end of each "they got into a fight!" episode, they make up and continue the status quo, even at cost of having to grow and give up on autismo island.
