>>114317268They were changing characters ages (Brittany, Quinn, Upchuck were going to be 12) and that Sandi/Staci aged up to be Daria/Jodie's age.
No Mack or Kevin, Sandi was one of two big bads along with Aunt Amy (now Helen's illegitimate sister).
Mr O'Neill and Mr DeMartino were being merged together and would be a gay ex-serviceman. IIRC the writer said Max Martini had been approached to voice him, due to him being friends with another one of the writers and the character would have a mentoring relationship with Daria.
Jane and Trent would appear in 2-3 episodes and that Trent was aged down and would be Jane's twin (to eliminate the age gap issue of him and Daria). They were also from Highland, as opposed to living in Lawndale.
Daria and Quinn were supposed to have a very toxic relationship and that there would be no real sisterly love between the two. The show would start in media res with Daria and Jodie friends and Daria's family having just moved to Lawndale.
Daria's big storyline would be that the family moved after inheriting a house left to Helen by her father upon his sudden death. Several episodes in, Daria and her family would meet Amy who would be revealed to be the result of a longstanding affair that Helen's dad had with a mistress he was keeping up on the side. And the family's new home was Amy's childhood home and she was pissed she got nothing out of her dad's will and would torment the Morgendorfers in revenge.
>>114317339IIRC the writer said there was a lot of forced diversity stuff they had to include in the reboot. One was that there had to be an interracial couple (in this case, Staci's parents) and one gay character (the O'Neill/DeMartino mash-up).
