>>114095862>Right but its more than just content. It's also do to a slowly shrinking demographic. That's why publishers do #1s and syngergize with films, to obtain new readers. Doesn't help with the overshipping to small businesses leaving them with the bill.Yeah, that must be why, at around late-phase 1, and phase 2, when kids were most likely to go into the comics to find what their new favourite characters from the movies were up to in the comics, damn near everyone was replaced with some minority or something. Cap was evil and Falcon was Cap, Spidey was Ock and/or Miles, Thor was unworthy and Jane was Thor, Banner was dead and Cho was Hulk, Tony was dead/an AI hologram and Riri was Iron Man, and so on and so forth. Even the readers from X-men movies, meager as they could be, got the same shit. X-men were on their way out, replaced by Inhumans, Logan was dead and Laura was Wolverine, etc.
The comic industry has spent the last 10 or so years following every misguided idea to gain readers, while actually scaring off the real potential readers, and actively shedding the existing ones.
And yes, they've also made the worst possible choices regarding business practices, but that's also fueled by the desperation caused by, well, see above.
