I will attempt to enlighten you.
Azula is an acquired taste.
when she first appeared I was just happy to finally see a decent villain in Avatar that wasn't a drooling retard like Zhao or Zuko.
She was a little over the top at first though and not drawn very cute in her first few episodes and so I didn't like her that much.
By the end of season 2, she was drawn like a total QT and she also was the first villain in Avatar that actually did anything right, and what she did was based as fuck. Still though, she was maybe an A or B ranking on the character chart. >>113997826
and then season 3 happens, and you can tell she's been a bit toned down in her meanness, but now she's a brand of crazy thats just funny and loveable like the volleyball scene and the Chan scene in The Beach. She's still mean but a lot of the time her anger feels justified and I really couldn't even hate her as a villain anymore. Plus in season 3 she's drawn like a smoke show. And in the finale you get to see her human side and it makes a lot of the things she did previously in the series make a lot more sense once you understand that her POV as fucked up as it is, actually makes a pretty compelling case for most of her actions in the show. It helps that she has many positive qualities: she's brilliant, efficient, intuitive, clever, ambitious, funny, and loyal.
but most NPCs will never understand this, which is what makes her an acquired taste.
