Batman beyond feels like how batman would end up in life, and works well as an epilogue for gotham.

Meh, I don't mind that Batman Beyond is specifically a DCAU continuity thing. Doesn't diminish it's importance as a piece of Batman media or lore in any way.

It feels awkward when they try to shoehorn DCU stuff that contradicts the DCAU into Batman Beyond (like with Justice League Beyond Unlimited). It it's a DCU adaptation of Batman Beyond that isn't literally supposed to be Earth-12, that's fine.

Even then, I see "present stories" as the only "set in stone" (well, as much as comic-book continuity can be) stories, and all future stories as only "possible futures." So, Earth-0 Batman COULD end up as DKR Batman, or something similar to the Batman Beyond setup, or as Batman/Superman: Generations, or as Kingdom Come, or as literally anything else. They are all "maybes."

The first season of Beyond had a real 90s OVA vibe to it. Despite feeling like the conclusion to Derek Powers was overall disappointing, the build up to it and that last scene with Terry and Paxton always gives me chills.

What's kind of funny is that in batman beyond tech and merc training finally caught up with super villains.

In normal DC a guy with a scarred face or clown makeup can somehow terrorize the mafia.
In Batman beyond all it takes is a competent mercenary or two with a laser gun and the supervillains are put on the backfoot (like with Blight almost getting outright assassinated by just a dude with a raygun)

According to Waller, Terry didn't quite inherit Bruce's intelligence. So he has Bruce's physical talent and is intelligent in his own right, but still dumber than Bruce. Which is kind of a problem since Bruce's greatest assets were his brains and money. Even if Terry inherits Bruce's fortune, he only gets half the things that made Batman exceptional.

Terry has his own assets though: He lacks batman's analytical mind, but he looks at things in a more outside the box kind of way that lets him think on his feet a bit more.

Look at how he's able to outsmart the joker for example: he plays on his ego to goad him into becoming unhinged, something that Batman with his dull mannerisms really never could.
