>>113674488Pizza and Fry use child labor from a VERY and highly illegal young age, and raised the kids terribly by leaning heavily on the responsible child and letting the irresponsible one basically do anything they wanted. Fuck, Fry let the crazy son move into the abandoned lighthouse outside town.
Sour Cream is fine, but Onion is an arsonist with a criminal record and like Steven he doesn’t go to school.
I didn’t really count Sadie and Lars as kids, but I’ll give you them.
Steven was doomed to suffer no matter what. Technically had the Gems not let him fight alongside them then Earth would have been destroyed and nobody would have been happy, but aside from that just his parentage screwed him over. Its like how Hitler’s nephew’s(?, can’t remember exactly their relation) family shun all forms of social contact and all got vasectomies to kill their bloodline off.
Besides, Connie’s family is the upstanding example, and they let her fight monsters in space.
The problem is that most of the fights was focused on Steven due to his heritage, and at the time of the trauma they skipped straight from battle to victory without letting a sense of safety return. They tried, but Steven’s insistence he was fine convinced them that he really was and since they are four soldiers who didn’t have a concept of childhood they had no reason to think otherwise.
I think the biggest exception is Holo-Pearl. Which was all an accident, including it attacking him.
Worth noting that the implications are that his Gem side was just as panicked and they created a feedback loop. Its probably why he stopped growing for so long, and why his powers came so quickly one after the other. Spinel caused his pink charged up mode it seems, and Jasper caused him to control it. That’s all more of needs of survival than neglect.
