>>113269518The problem (at least for the way I see the series now) is that I no longer buy into Megatron as an antagonist. When was the last time Megatron himself was the major threat an obstacle to overcome?
Over the last decade and half, it's been The Fallen, Quintessa, Sentinel Prime, Nova Prime, Starscream, Megatronus, Shockwave, Cyclonus, Unicron in various pieces of media. And looking at the origins of conflict, Optimus and Megatron usually agree, they only disagree over how much force to use in getting it, but overall, they seem like they are more naturally allied than opposed. So if Optimus and Megatron as adversaries doesnt work, why do factions need to exist? Honestly, I see them more and more like...Spider-Man and Punisher might be a close analogy...not perfect but close. They disagree with each other, but are ultimately on the same side.
I think I'd rather read a "buddy cop" series about Optimus and Megatron working together against corrupt governments and amoral sadistic scientists then read Autobots and Decepticons anymore
