>>113081119Honestly the star wars thing rings a bit true, because I really like george lucas. I already didn't like the RLM hype that 4chan bought into so hard, where a bunch of underachieving gen x losers snarked for 3 hours about how they would've done the movies. Like as if star wars was the only scifi possible and as if they with enough ambition couldn't have created their own thing.
And I didn't like the sequels either, but I realized bitching about it would kind of narrow down my focus on something I hate instead of towards something I enjoy.
I feel like with so many of these legacy franchises it's just time to move on. Either the remakes sell to some audience or they fucking flop.
But at this point I can't see remakes anymore, or starwars or other retro-franchise reboots.
And then people get upset about a bad reboot and demand a good reboot.
How about something new?
He-man was successful because it was something new. Conan the barbarian already existed, they could have licensed him (as originally planned) and given him a laser gun and called him "SPACE CONAN", but they did their own thing.
So I'd rather have a new "he-man" or "shera" in the sense that I'd like to have more fresh properties no matter how derivative they seem.
And that's why I can't get upset about any of this anymore.
