>>113040231As far as I've seen, SCOOB streamlined down skills- Spot and Listen into Perception and Hide and Move Silently into Stealth, as well as cutting down some amounts of bloat.
CMB is literally just the same as your Grapple check, and CMD is basically an armor class for maneuvers. That's literally it. I'm not sure how it scales, not having as much experience with SCOOB! as I am Scooby Doo, but I could see how it would make tripping large creatures impossibly.
It does split up feat chains, but also grants more feats- one at every odd level, and generally grants more class features to martial classes- Freddies get Trap and armor masteries, for example, while Velmas get jack shit that they didn't already get (except maybe Arcane Discoveries, which you can take in place of a Velma only feat, but most of those suck)
Plus, the Mystery Inc. system is a much more streamlined version of ACFs from Scooby-Doo but they're basically mechanically the same.
All in all, I'll play either. But the SCOOB is online for free, whereas the scooby-doo books are not.
