Debatable. Eitri's gauntlet protected Thanos from nearly all the backlash from the snap and only grievously injured him when he destroyed the stones with it. Stark's gauntlet wrecked Hulk, and Tony even having an entire suit of the stuff died.

Why would he not design robots to do all the welding and fabricating? Isn't that what people do today with 3-D mills and such?

Technically, he used one of them to fuck with a home-built AI, had time to study its effect on Vision, SHIELD had the Tesseract for decades, even his Dad extropolated a new element from studying it, and they had all the captured research data from the Hydra project using the Mind Stone.

So actually, he had quite a bit of Data on Infinity Stones, but little on them interacting with one another.

It wasn't superior at all. Thanos' gauntlet could channel the power of each stone individually, whereas Tony's could only channel all of them at once.

The guy that came up with the Ultron initiative sure sounds like someone that would have a plan b "just in case". Also, his suit is made with nanomachines that assembles itself out of fucking nowhere. It can surely reassemble itself to fit a couple pebbles in.

I agree, but I feel like that's more our fault than the movie's
It's hard not to see *actors* instead of *characters* in a 2 and a half hour movie when you've spent the last decade inundated with behind the scenes rumors, pre-production set pics, and inane cast interviews.
It's a lot easier to be invested in the characters and universe when you're only immersed in it for as long as you're in the theater

I literally didn't do any of those things. Just saw the movies (not even all of them) and still saw it as an actor who wanted to get out.

Not how it happens in the movie. It was Antman that had the idea, and when Tony said no, Banner developed it and built the machines. What Tony did was important but at most he has 1/3 of the credit for the invention of time travel. Also, he is shown directing the simulation, it wasn't he just asking the computer to invent stuff.

Honestly, of all of the MCU cast he alone would have the galaxy brain capable of creating a powerful enough computer that it could theorise time travel. Tony is basically mentally in another century and always has been, which is why he can’t understand caring much about short term consequences since he’s already thinking hundreds of steps and branching consequences ahead and aiming things towards the most favourable result.
He’s pretty much only fettered by his big baby emotions, otherwise he could be a genuinely terrifying neutral force, remorselessly pushing humanity towards the ‘best’ outcome.
