>>112527139>Can someone explain Adam Warlock to me?Adam was created as an artificial, 'perfect' human in H.I.V.E., an AIM-like think tank. This was in the pages of Fantastic Four, IIRC. He was to be the future superman.
Unfortunately the moment he came 'online' he condemned his creators as unethical dickheads and pulled their secret base down around their ears.
After that he wandered for a bit - tried to seduce Jane Foster, drawing him into battle with Thor, in which he comported himself well, so... pretty powerful, all of which in his briefs.
The High Evolutionary enlisted him as the guardian / Jesus of his artificial world 'Counter Earth', during which he died.
Adam can't really die. If he dies, he cocoons himself and emerges after a few days, usually changed a little. If he's blown to bits, a cocoon just pops up somewhere. He's a cosmic hero by now who frequently rubs shoulders with the likes of Galactus and Thanos.
Now... the Magus is a future version of him. He's a giant asshole, and Adam has discovered to his dismay that no matter what he does - he's tried everything - he seems doomed to eventually turn into the Magus.
Adam fights Thanos because he is opposed to his ends, but he is his friend because he relates to him: they are both alienated from everyone else.
