>>112448230We know for a fact they were made by someone as all gems are artificial. We know for a fact gems feature obvious signs of being made with some sort of design in mind.
Many aspects of Gem culture are pointless, impossible without a guiding hand implanting them. The idea of invasion can't exist without someone to actually invade. The idea of soldiers can't exist without war. Clothing as we know it can't exist without cold or heat, speech can't exist without natural animal calls, so on and so on.
Gems are clearly artificial. Highly artificial. I'd argue their entire existence is artificial and corruption merely brings a gem down to their normal, base level, failing to fix the physical changes.
We can theorise who the makers of the gems are basing our assumptions off what they made. Unless Gems are a runaway accident, not intented to be released into the world as they are, the species that made them made specific calls to turn Gems into a tool of destruction of worlds that might house life threatening to their makers of their own volition.
A follower who doesn't know he follows you can't rebel.
On top of that they're designed to appear to be an independent race, as if adding a layer of separation. Should a serious threat destroy the Gems, they won't be able to trace their murderous ways to the Gem makers since Gems do seem to act of their own desire to expand.
Besides, theorycrafting is fun, that's the main reason to do it.
