I think of Doug and even James as zombie Simpsons. The glory days are long, long gone and all that's left is so rotten and devoid of meaning and purpose you just want to see it put out of its misery. At a certain point the level of gushing over nostalgia these people exibit, and others like them, has become very offputting and infantile. Stunted development and all that. The difference between what they do and say a thread on /co/ or any other board about nostalgic media is that these come and go. These poor souls have to do that all the time, forever, professionally, as if stuck in some weird limbo or hell.
All sense of fun is absent from their shit. And no wonder, since this was never supposed to be a "thing" on the level they assumed it would. I like James as a person for instance but I can't muster the willpower to watch his new, uninspired and dull AVGN videos, yet alone his movie reviews with those losers he surrounded himself with. And I'll be damned if I can tolerate vids with Mike. It's all so utterly pointless, a great void of content with tangible despair oozing from it all.
Sorry for going in the James direction, I haven't watched anything of Dougs in... fuck it's years now.
