I'd like the angsty teen drama, as it would fit the concept of the character growing up and changing. I love bleak, depressing stuff even. I just dont get where they are going with it. First we had the movie where everything is alright, Steven is as happy as it gets in an eighties montage, not a single care in the world, he is a millionare, co-emperor of an alien empire, and surrounded by alien friends and waifus. He even has a gf and a car so he already has the usual teen concerns solved. Then apparently, in the new movie he learns there is no happily ever after, he will forever have to deal with leftover gem crap. Okay, no big, that's what her mom and her friends doing for millennia, right? He also has all the support and help he could ever need, its not like Auntie White is going to refuse his plea for an assault quartz division, a squadron of gem warships or some bureaucrat who knows exactly where problems might arise. It looks like he has a job for his life as an ersatz diamond, it was obvious to viewers, should have been obvious to him too.
Then comes SUF- He is apparently unhappy, doesn't know what to do. He finds no interest in the many previous hobbies he had, reading, singing, playing music, being fat and so on or just hanging out with his friends, like he did in the movie. It's not like he couldn't afford to get into a few new hobbies.
So he becomes a workoholic. Then it ends. Then he gets a new hobby, then he fucks it up. Then he gets mad about everyone else moving on. Then he actually performs his big job and saves a planet from the Lapises, but for some reason it doesnt please him at all. Nor Lapis'(the ugly one) friendship. Not even exploring a fucking alien planet, untouched by mankind brings him any excitement. Nothing he does pleases him and nothing needs to be done pleases him, yet at the same time he continuously angsts on and his father and gf, some of the two most levelminded, helpful characters of the show are curiously missing.
