Hey /co/, my only knowledge of Conan are the Schwarzenegger movies and that cartoon where he had a talking phoenix. I wanna read some comics, what are the best entry level ones?

Savage Sword of Conan starts off with straight adaptations of the stories and has omnibus editions. Go with those.

What are some other sword and sorcery animations besides this and Masters of The Universe?
Doesn’t have to be pure fantasy sword and sorcery, science fantasy stuff like Thundarr is good too.

Just wrapped up the Truman Dark Horse run. Are the original Marvel years Conan books cool too, or should I just stick with Savage?

Yes read the Marvel years. Savage Sword is the apex of Thomas' run but all his other Marvel works are a good read too. Look for the Red Nails graphic novel.

They're a great starting point.

Roy Thomas' original Marvel run really starts going with 'Conan The Barbarian' #6, and mostly has self contained issues until he leaves the book, almost 100 issues later.

They have different art styles for each book, because each book is made by a different team. Not all of them are great, but the next one, the Black Colossus, is one of the best in terms of art style imo.
