If there's a show that I'm really into and it gets a "main character tries to be in a relationship but the relationship fails because status quo" arc, I'll either drop the show entirely, or I won't watch a future episode without reading the synopsis first.
I dropped AT as early as when PB got de-aged but then they made her normal in the following fucking episode. I can't remember which specific episode of Regular Show made me drop it but the Mordecai & Cloudy Jay shit was worse than the will he/won't he shit with Margaret.
I considered dropping Gravity Falls when they had that episode where Dipper wanted to get better at talking to girls and Mabel told them he was leading them all on because I guess the asian girl had a thing for him, but more than anything that just made me hate Mabel even more.
I jumped off the Star Vs titanic as early as the first or second season, whichever season has an episode that ends in Star & Marco dancing together at a prom. Although I was certain the show would turn into a crappy telenovela from the very first episode there were some elements that had me thinking they would subvert everyone's expectations and make the two just be bros.
When Adult Swim had the rights to Futurama they seemed to ALWAYS air that shitty brain worms episode which made me weary of the later seasons but I don't think I went out of my way to not watch new episodes without reading a synopsis.
Seeing "will they won't they" romantic bullshit in muh comics & cartoons just reminds me of all my friends from highschool/uni who have or almost ruined their lives just to get noticed by some loser with no future. Similarly I resent hilariously broken characters like Superman and Flash because they remind me that I can't be there to solve all the problems of my friends & loved ones.
