Superman when written correctly is about the idea human desire to do good even if the world is trying to stop you. The want to do you're best to help the world is what makes Superman an interesting character. This is what makes him an appealing character. He's not batman, the real person is Clark not Superman, it's about his moral struggles is what makes him interesting and not a boring Mary sue. He's not a god who likes to play with mortals he's a human who's has the power of a god and tries to uphold his morals.
