As an example of how hard it is to make media in India, we all know Bollywood (or at least of it) but India has like twelve other sizable movie studio complexes like Pollywood, Dhallywood, and Jollywood. Honestly the idea of India being one unified country astonishes me. If you make comics and cartoons for India you're basically locking yourself from everywhere but three or four states in India. They have shows, movies, music, cartoons, and some areas even had small game studios for a while but the language and cultural barrier would make them almost impossible for outward audiences to enjoy.
This is why I feel America dominates media so much, since America is so diverse alongside having so much wealth and a massive population to draw from it doesn't really have a culture that would bewilder outsiders. Sure the gun-fucking and gross food Americans like are odd but their marriages, slang, holidays, and even movements are such of mix of almost every significant culture bordering the Atlantic and Pacific that it's pretty universalizing and doesn't seem too alien.
