It's not just that. It's that they intentionally go out of their way to say "HEY you suck" and can't explain with more than the same exact phrase on "consistent art". It's like the NPC meme came back to life and when you question their reasoning, they can't refute why they're mad.
We got our show to completion unlike some other cancelled ones on /co/ and they are still seething after OKKO ended peacefully.

If you want a serious answer, I absolutely don't hate the show. I did stop watching somewhere in season 2 but I might pick it up again sometime I guess. But you really, really have to admit at this point that while it doesn't immediately kill the whole show, the art is not something that can be ignored.
Sometimes it looks nice and sharp with fun, dynamic animation, but these moments are severely outweighed by the amount of time in the series (that I've seen anyway, does it get better as it goes on?) where it just looks like it was drawn with 0 thought, and people can say that it's "intentional" all they want but intentionally bad drawings are still bad drawings. Again, I don't think the show is bad, but when characters look wildly different every episode and have constantly fluctuating levels of laziness put into their design and animation, most people tend to notice, and it's understandable that some of those people who notice will just quit on the series and write it off as a mediocre or bad show. I think they could've profited from having less episodes a season so more money could've gone towards each episode, 54 episodes in the first season is kind of absurd.

Being honest, I think the show could've used more consistency. The videogames like Let's Play Heroes drew KO so fucking bad, I couldn't get past the first stage looking at it.
I stayed with the show to watch the main narrative, "KO's dad and Carol". The show is really fun. The references make me laugh sometimes, but it will go over kids heads. It was rather harmless and I've seen worse artstyles than that so I didn't feel that bad. Now the Thundercats Roar reboot drawn in OKKO's artstyle? That's fucking bad. At least OKKO was it's own thing, but a simple artstyle on superior cartoons is where I cross the line on Toby.

Good lord I tried to word the other post as lightly as I could but the game is completely inexcusable. Didn't this sell for like 30 bucks? I seem to remember another game way before the show even came out that looked far better than this. As an (amateur) artist I genuinely have no idea what steps one would need to take for shit to get this bad.
But you know what, you're right - the show is pretty fun. I'm not entirely sure why I stopped watching, probably because my backlog of shows/movies/vidya/etc is still fucking huge and I was trying to catch up on other things, but I think I might pick it up again because I remember my summer being quite comfy because of this show. And even with its flaws, I don't think it ever really tries to be more than what it is, which is a mostly silly action cartoon with a bunch of anime and vidya references from some jolly nerd who has fun at his job.

Ok KO is a weird show, you have the games, the shorts and the actual show, all having different artstyles. Toby had troubles left and right pitching his show.
KO originally had the voice of Kid Goku.
The pilot, shorts, and games all had different artstyles. CN chose the bottom half of the worst ones.
OKKO wanted to be everything in the media, losing focus on their own show which was supposed to support the CN App and games.
Toby was forced to pander to the Gun Control and LGBT audience because he's dating Rebecca Sugar to get his own show.
CN cut production costs so he fought back by keeping low budget artstyles for more seasons. Combine this with trying to rival TTG and Gumball.
This show, Uncle Grandpa, and Clarence was treated very badly by the network. Steven Universe was just bait to attract more fans thirsty of content to rival horseshow in ratings.

Rather than Toby letting OKKO die with dignity like Wander Over Yander, he thought he could save it with crossovers. The day they released the Sonic episode, it was canceled. I hope he learned his lesson and makes a spiritual successor. He should've gone to Netflix for better treatment in current year.

You know, the show needed someone with the balls to see the boards and say this is not good enough do them again. Instead you had a work culture where they tried to keep their bad drawings because they looked funny. Its clear that the people working in the show had fun making it but the end result is lacking and maybe with a little more quality control the show would have been received better.

Unironically yes. What good is it to circlejerk the same staff in the industry and not hire new blood with potential. I'm an animator and I can pitch some ideas of my own but
1. I don't live in Cali.
2. I don't have connections on the inside.
Without connections and asskissing, you'll never get into the big leagues and then even if you do get in, you'll be stripped of your creative freedom and artstyle for whatever THEY want. I wish I saved the promo cover and pitch for Freaktown as an example. I get that random people would be a risk on the company, but that's why they should have a filter and pick the best. Storyboarders automatically get in anyway so it's worse for us to be in competition with them.

Agreed there should be a standard that creators should have to meet.

This is also why I don't make a big deal out of new people not being let in easily. It's both a smart, cheaper and good way of running a business to give the people already working for you more to do than to just trust the new guy to make a good cartoon. Plus it rewards the worker for staying with the company for long periods.

I get what your saying. Yes, I understand that those with more experience on the inside gets hired. That makes sense. It's just that when your on the outside, it's hard to get inside to do anything without connections. The networks play it safe....too safe, to the point where animation can become stagnant at times when they mismanage their own shows.

I feel that new animators have a harder time making it because CN, Nick, and Disney don't make cartoons for the medium, they make it for the $$$ and toy merch each quarter.

This post example shows the companies' eye of things on the inside. Things will never change if it stays in this perspective because nobody cares enough for it. The reward for workers staying long with a company should be a bigger paycheck, but that doesn't always happen, hence why popular creators bounce around to different networks. Animation is expensive, if they weren't doing for the money, there's no way it would be self-sustaining, thus even less cartoons would be made and you'd have an even smaller chance of getting in the industry.

I get your situation, but you also have to think about it from the position of the network, do you have anything to show to them, that'd prove you can make your own show? A portifolio of any kind? And not just of drawings, drawing well doesn't mean you can write an engaging story, or good characters.

I saw Ian JQ at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
