>>112057394It had the potential to be the cartoon of the 2010s but it fucked it all up. Adventure Time was actually more like FOP was in the early 2000s, it was untouchable in its 3-5th seasons, and looked like it would be the next big phenomenon but then something just happened and it lost its spark as quickly as it gained it. The creator lost interest and wanted to do other things, the writing staff couldn't step up to the plate, voice actors started phoning it in, circumstances outside of its control got its theatrical movie canned, began to suffer erratic scheduling (production issues?), fans only began to care about shipping (because the rest of the cast was worthless anyway), and it had to resort to attention grabbing gimmicks to try and gain viewership back (Poochies in FOP's case, aimless miniseries and the Bubbline kiss in AT's). They both died peasants deaths and only really live in through a dying content creation scene. It's even more fitting that they are both Fred Seibert produced shows.
The cartoon that stole the 2010s is probably going to have to be Gravity Falls, despite its short run. If The Manlet wasn't such a pussy ass quitter, Disney would have squeezed as much juice out of that lemon as possible. Its tie-in book was a best seller. It influenced tons of shows into becoming lore-heavy (even Adventure Time tried to shimmy itself over to this with little success), full of fan-interactive stuff, lots of copying of the quirky female Mabel character as well. It also revived the creator worship with The Manlet putting his scruffy peachfuzzed face on pretty much every promotion imaginable. The 2010s also saw a revival of human-character shows rather than the creaturas that dominated the later parts of 2000s after everyone got tired of copying Ben 10/Teen TItans style.
