It's cringy to the extreme, and instead of funny like Venture Bros where the characters are terrible people constantly fucking everything up they try to co-opt that formula and ruin it with Harley coming out on top and beating the evil misogynists. They should have never tried that approach with the strong independent woman rising above her abusive relationship shit because they aren't able to properly show her being an idiot and getting wrecked by everyone else but they can't be funny either. Worst of both worlds.
Even when they try having her screw up like robbing a fake bank setup for a children's party they still have her beating everyone up and then outsmarting the bad guys by preying on their kid's sexual insecurities. That's not funny or entertaining, unless you think her shouting about finger banging over and over is a form of comedy.
People liked original Harley because she was nothing like any of this. She was the hopeless victim of Joker's manipulations and it was refreshing seeing such a common / real mental hangup of women stuck in the vicious cycle of abusive relationships. And she was down to Earth as someone who got sucked into the black hole of Joker's evil by being a psychologist who fell for his psychopathic made up stories used to instill sympathy.
Honestly Harley's place as a character should be as a tragic victim showing you what the Joker's capable of and how he's still dangerous even though he's mostly just a normal strength guy. Having her beat all these problems just trivializes and ruins that role she serves when being done properly. It's not longer much of a tragedy when she can turn into a sassy, independent self-starter and best the Joker with her awesome self-esteem.
