>>112044447Long story short I spent three years working as a bouncer at a club for "alternative lifestyles" and Sunday night's were leather night so I spent way more time around "the community" than I ever wanted. 98% of the tops had one of two different stories, either mommy and daddy didn't love them (or weren't affectionate) but pounded them with this kind of Randian Individualist shit about "being a WINNER" and "there's two types of people, successful people and everybody else" in which case they equated being in control as being worthy of the love they never had. Or they were either abused or neglected as a child and "taking the power back" (or adopting the persona of the abuser) or they couldn't trust their partner wouldn't abandon them without jumping throw physical and psychological hoops to prove their partnership in the relationship.
Azula, in my bartop psychologists opinion, is definitely the former. Her dad was neglectful and filled her head with 'fire nation over all' übermensch bullshit and she equates being on top to being worthy of love.
