Biden isn’t president and hopefully he won’t be, but the question isn’t about if he is corrupt, because ultimately there are proper channels a sitting president can go through to investigate the corruption of his predecessors.
Trump didn’t us those levers instead he withheld pre agreed upon aid from a nation and essentially said “ you want da money, you gimme da Biden” like he was some 1920s gangster squeezing a small time crook.
Fact is this isn’t a discussion about wether Biden abused power, frankly I hope he did so he doesn’t end up running. It’s about wether the current sitting president dangled money in front of a foreign nation and implied “if you want this you will investigate my political rivals for corruption to help me in the coming election”
This is an issue because if this is not addressed you are essentially inviting any foreign power to “investigate” any and all of your politicians on both sides of the aisle for a pay day.
Do you really want the next democrat in power to be able to call up any third world nation with ties to prominent republicans and say “that’s some nice foreign aide you got there buddy, how’s about you earn it by getting us some dirt on Ben Shapiro” or whoever it is you guys plan on worshiping next.
