One problem I do have is that it feels like there's a disproportionate amount of lesbians as opposed to gay males.
There are lesbians in She-Ra, Clarence, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and more. The only gay male characters in a mainstream cartoon childrens I can think of are from The Loud House and I guess maybe also Gravity Falls.
This makes me uncomfortable for two reasons. Number one, gay women are often more highly fetishized than gay men and two I feel like another reason there are more lesbians is that writers subconsciously see them as more "Non-Threatening" than gay men.
That's not to say that having lesbian representation is bad. In fact, I'm glad we're getting it. I just feel that we need to be more conscious of why there are so many more lesbians than gay male characters.
