The days grow colder, the nights grow longer. That means /co/ Christmas cheer is coming to town. Grab some cocoa, turn on the Christmas music, get comfy, and hang out with some /co/mrades as we share stories and get into the holiday spirit.
As previous years, share your Amazon wishlist and some random Anon may purchase a holiday gift for you. Be sure to gift another Anon in return so we can spread the cheer far and wide.
Please check the Pastebin to learn how to get your wishlist code, add a shipping address, the benefits of using AmazonSmile, and all other information.
Last year we had 169 gifted anons, some more than once.

To get your wishlist code, open your wishlist on Amazon, then copy the 11 digit number from the link. It will look like this:
amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/###########
We just need the ###########
Missing Address: When viewing your list, click the "…" in the upper right hand corner. From there click "Manage List" which will give you a few options including “Shipping Address”. While you’re here please check “Third party shipping agreement”. That will allow anons to buy you stuff that isn’t sold by amazon.
Please post when you buy something from a wishlist, either post the code again or link to their post of the code. Amazon has made it so we can't check to see what's been purchased.

I had planned to wait until December 1st, but seeing as how the gifts are already rolling in, I suppose we can do this a bit early. A little backstory: Last year I posted how I bought a Superior Foes of Spider-Man omnibus from Steve Lieber, who signed and sketched in the front cover. A few people commented on it, I remember someone saying it was out of their price range to get something like that, and someone else saying them being in another country it would be difficult to get. I was going to buy another one from Steve for a giveaway this year, but unfortunately he sold out of them soon after I got mine. Fortunately however, he was kind enough to respond to my inquiry that if I were able to find the book else where and mail it to him, if he would sign and sketch in it for me (for his sketching fee of course). He said he would be happy to, so a few months of searching later I was able to get it and send it to him, and what you see pictured is the result! I was also going to have Nick Spencer sign it at NYCC this year, but he ended up canceling his appearance. Even if he didn’t, I wasn’t able to go since I ended up being hospitalized and having emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder, that was fun stuff.
Scribs
>>111655484 So, here’s the skinny; Anyone who sends a gift can be entered to win this book. No country restriction, however there is one stipulation: If you are outside of the US and you win, I’m asking you to pay half the international shipping charges. If you can’t do that, I’ll have to ask you don’t enter the drawing. Sorry, but international shipping can get pretty steep and this is already close to a $200 endeavor. After you send a gift and post about it in the thread, send me an email at scribs@mail.com with your wishlist code, the wishlist code you gifted, and screen cap of the order for proof of purchase. That email gets you the entry. One entry per person. Please don’t try to circumvent this and enter multiple times, if you’re caught you’ll be removed and I promise no matter what I will never be your friend and I will never forgive you and I will hate you for the rest of my life.
That is pretty much it. Good luck!

The first time it lasted 3 hours, the time before I went to the hospital it was up to 7 hours, and the day I went to the hospital it was 18 hours. You always hear child birth as being the most painful thing, but a number of women who had this said it was way worse than having kids. I was still sick from it pretty much the entire month of October and a little into November, but I'm starting to even out. No specific dietary changes, but some stuff does make me sick that didn't before.

I've heard some people feel sick while others get upset stomachs from too much fat post gallbladder surgery.

The patron saint for November 30th is Saint Andrew. One of the OGs, he's the brother of Saint Peter and has been chilling with the big J. since he started building up his squad. He didn't do many cool things in the Bible itself, and later stuff suggests he's been preaching along the Black Sea, maybe even reaching as far as current Kiev, which later made him the patron saint of Ukraine, Russia and Romania. Scots like him, too, for some reason. He was crucified on an X-shaped cross (and this is why Scots have an x shape on their flag), which could make him endearing to people on this comics and cartoons oriented board.

Minifig !!3kTkiqN0Gwz
>>111657159 Ah, now there's a question? Something that represents the pure ideals of the season? Then something like "The Man Who Hated Christmas" from Action Comics #105, "The Search For Santa Claus" from Batman v1 #33 or any of the Walt Kelly Christmas Funnies will fit the bill quite nicely. Something that highlights the more sombre or cynical side of the holiday? Then you could pick any story from Christmas With The Superheroes #2, any Punisher Christmas Special or The Spectre v3 #26. Hell, you could split the difference and go for The Spectre v4 #12, Starman v2 #27 or even "Elvira's Christmas Carol" from Elvira's House of Mystery Special #1.
If that's too heavy, what about comic book characters getting into cool fights around the holidays? Well, you've got Scarlet Spider v2 #12, Uncanny X-Men #205, Uncle Scrooge #296 or my personal favourite, "Tale of A City" from Comics Cavalcade #9, to name but four.
I have a lot of favourite Christmas comics. I expect to see them posted over the weeks to come, and I fully expect to find some more as well.

I'm doing a few special item giveaways.
These work out a bit different since it's not through Amazon all the winners will need to share their addresses with me through email.
The first item will be this week two Phoenix Gate from Gargoyles. Any one that purchases a gift from now through the end of Monday, 12/2/19, will get an entry, email me confirmation of the purchase. Multiple gifts is multiple entries. Two names will be drawn for winners.
The second contest Item will be Loki's Mask from The Mask is an art competition, People have until the 16th to email Christmas themed Mask art. Feel free to post the pictures as well, but I ask entries to be emailed first so someone else doesn't try to claim your art.

Hoping for some feedback here. I'm the anon who got his whole list bought. I always look forward to these threads. I spend all of December in them gifting and being gifted small things. Ten bucks here, ten bucks there. Since I don't have any extended family I use these threads as a replacement. I've been waiting for them to start up for weeks now and they finally did. I was enjoying hanging out with everyone, but it doesn't feel like secret Santa without gifting people back and forth. That's a special mug because I bought this anon this thing. That's a special book because I bought anon that book he wanted. Is it bad form to make a new list and take part anonymously again? The items I get mean less to me than the sharing back and forth. I'm torn on this one so what do you anons think? I can repopulate my list with other small things I would like, make a new list or just disappear into the anon crowd and donate gifts without being able to do the exchanges which I've always enjoyed (if I can find who bought me something I return the favor). For the moment I made my list private so if I appear ungifted no anon will gift me until I figure this out.

>>111676916 I don't want it to be an one to one ratio. I don't expect anons to buy me gifts if I buy them one. I enjoy the exchange part where you spend a month with other anons, then buy each other a gift towards Christmas. Like you chat about Spiderman and see he has a Spiderman complication and you get him it. And he buys you something and it's a reminder of the time spent in each other's company that year. That appeals to me as a concept and why I like the threads. Being gifted back isn't expected, some times it happens and some times it doesn't, that's fine with me.
An anonymous donation of everything is great. I'm not ungrateful I really appreciate everything I've been gifted. It's just different to share a gift with a new friend which is why I enjoy the threads.

No MAJOR saints are patros for December 1st, so out of the less popular ones I decided to feature Saint Eligius. Living mostly in the seventh century, he was a chief counselor of king Dagobert I of the Merovingians, and after the king died, he spent the last twenty or so years of his life converting Flanders to Christianity. And he diddly doodly did just that. He also liked to fuck around at the blacksmiths and liked animals, so he's a patron saint of metalworkers and veterinarians, among other things.

>>111672323 >>111671904 Honestly, the thing about print production is that they could do a small batch, although the main cost in printing with a physical press, is starting up the machine.
The fact that Amazon has those Print to Own publishers, even those who are stealing the IPs (largely text books and other science and technology books, some of which are out of print and sell for high prices, but of which are simply commercial books), means that Warners could come up with a way for DC to do this that would be both profitable, but it's a problem with the Diamond monopoly.

>>111679533 >but it's a problem with the Diamond monopoly. I might be stupid, but isn't Diamond's monopoly for floppies only? I mean, with how many actual book stores (both physical and web-based) sell trades, I always assumed there's different distributors dealing with them, since Diamond doesn't seem to bother with anything that's not specifically an LCS.

Amazon's proven that POD is feasible. Any argument to the contrary is BS.
>>111679650 LCS sell trades and omnibuses - I have bought some His at Barnes & Noble but that was years ago when it was easy to find them - I think 2009 or 10 was the last time and those were gifts. Actually, I take that back - I did buy some Capstone HCs but those are readers for kids, they barely have art work, and I buy those for my nieces and nephews, but the Lego GNs I buy them and a few other things, I get at an LCS.
When you hear of people saying DC
>>111671904 >DC solicits, then cancels most books. they are talking about DC sending to Diamond a list of material for sale in the month of say December, that Diamond then sends to the LCS stores and from which the LCS' order their books - those solicitations are not just floppies or trades, but also stuff like the Diamond Select figurines and a few other things.
