>What is this thread?
Every Wins'day at Win-O'-Clock we gather here and post links to the latest scans and rips of comic books.
Most links we uploaded ourselves, others we are sharing from elsewhere.
Some comics we've even purchased ourselves (but most we didn't).
If you'd like to help out, just ask and we would be delighted to tell you how.
Otherwise, be patient, be polite, and understand the simple concept behind these words: Not posted means not available yet.
>Where can I find old Win-O'-Threads?
http://desuarchive.org/co/search/subject/Official%20Win-O'-Thread/
http://boards.fireden.net/co/search/subject/Official%20Win-O'-Thread/
(Note: This finds the OP for old threads. If you want to search for comics in the archive, clear the subject field!)
>Where can I find downloads for other comics?
Warez forums/blogs, DDL-indexing search engines (like FilesLoop), torrent trackers (like ETTV) and other P2P networks (like DC++).
If a link has been posted on 4chan, you can search for it in the Desu archive (add "http*" to searches to return only posts with links).
If all else fails, just >buy it.
>Where can I buy comics?
http://www.comixology.com/
http://www.amazon.com/
On the various publishers' webstores, and at your local comics shop.
>Where can I find an LCS?
http://www.comicshoplocator.com/
>Where can I find out when new comics are released?
http://www.comiclist.com/index.php
http://www.previewsworld.com
>How do I download from websites that only give me .exe files?
Untick the checkbox under the download button.
>How can I find this thread every week?
If you are using the inline extension go to
http://4chan.org/co/official or use the option under "Filters & Post Hiding".
If you have 4chanX go to Settings > Filter > Subject and add the following line:
/Official Win-O'-Thread/;highlight

After the events of "The Time Opener," Valerian and Laureline reverted to childhood, and are now living with Mr. Albert on 21st-century Earth. But in a universe where time travel is a reality, words like "after" and "now" can be somewhat hazy... Elsewhere, in other times, the pair of agents continues to work tirelessly to maintain a galactic peace threatened as always by greed and the thirst for power (Europe Comics: 49 pages).

After the events on Antares, the first official contact between Humans and the Tsalterian civilisation can take place on Aldebaran. Limited in scope, it is to involve only two groups of scientists studying a mysterious structure of unknown origin – all under the aegis of Kim, the only ambassador the aliens are willing to accept. A situation that’s not to everyone’s taste on the Human side . . . . But as things threaten to take a wrong turn, Marie, one of the survivors brought to Aldebaran by Sven the Tsalterian, suddenly intervenes (Cinebook: 65 pages).

>>111693324 Not sure why anon picked that time frame or what it refers to but people in the GA didn't even get credited in the issues, or other people did the work but Joe and Jerry were listed (albeit they were paying the people and Joe was supervising the illustrations from his own studio shop). Bob Kane simply took all credit. They certainly didn't get royalties until after this time frame.
At some point around the '70s, Neal Adams and Denny O'Neil helped out with labor activism which changed a lot of things at DC and they were the top talent at DC at that time. Hahn and Levitz were also more willing to pay the writers, illustrators, etc.

>>111693324 Jenette Kahn was installed as publisher (later president) by WB and she, influenced by Paul Levitz, reformed their reprint contracts. Instead of just getting s flat % of the cover price, writers/artists would get a set amount per page.
And books that "broke even" by DC's standards got a bonus. By 1989, that breakpoint was around 70K according to Alan Grant. That sometimes led to them having to renegotiate contracts when Levitz was working on the cheap black&white Showcase Presents line. Those were a set low cost ($20usd), so DC could have ended up taking a hit on the production costs due to royalty agreements unless they renegoitated (because any money is better than no money). If you look at the Showcase Presents wiki page for releases, you'll notice that many of the multi-volume releases finish with material from 1975 to avoid royalties.
This was all done to try to attract talent. "Write the best books you can, and you'll get bonuses." Jim Shooter eventually started cutting "incentive cheques" for Marvel writers, but hated the idea because every issue should be their best issue.
Those reprint contracts largely died out by 1996, which is part of why you see more reprints of stuff after that year.

>>111695248 That's a good question. Most of that info I wrote was from when Levitz had a blog on newsarama, and that's all been deleted now. Only a few archived parts remain. Most of those posts were from the pre-digital age.
If I had to guess, I would say that a digital copy of a single wouldn't count as a reprint, as it is supposed to be the same thing as the original release.
I would then say that digital versions of trades do count as reprints, and that's mostly connected to DC not releasing digital versions of physical trades that they cancel. For example, I was slightly interested in the Adam Strange Silver Age omnibus, but not willing to drop 100$ on it. When they announced a trade that contained half of it, I preordered it.
Then they cancelled it (despite having produced new artwork for it), and never released it digitally. Instead, the singles that make it up are still on cmx.

>>111698319 Yes it does. Marvel didn't have an official policy about royalties for reprints, DC did.
Publishers hate paying royalties, because it means digging into THEIR share of the profits (which should be 100+ percent). So DC, hoping to limit how much they had to share profits, rarely reprints stuff from the time the policy was in effect (basically mid 70s to early 90s). Anything before or after that was fair for reprints, since they didn't have to pay royalties. Marvel didn't have that contract policy, so was free to reprint whatever the fuck they wanted.

>>111698433 You make it sound like DC doesn't want to share profits, OK. But that would also imply they don't want to make any money from that time frame, albeit less than if they didn't need to share it.
So they are taking no profits rather than share them? Come on now.

>>111698474 NO publisher wants to share profits. If given the choice between making no money from the time period where they would have to pay royalties and making LESS money, but not having to share it, from a different time period. OF COURSE they would choose the latter. They're greedy fucking publishers.
