>>111237196There's nothing wrong with having a villain just be a villain. But there is a problem with making a villain unsympathetic after giving them sympathetic moments in the past.
What about all those moments where Gabriel was concerned for Adrien? What about all those moments where Gabriel mourned the loss of his wife? It'd be one thing if he hesitated or rationalized to himself that he could set everything right, but no, he's just a douche who never loved anyone or anything but wants his dead wife back because derp de doo I guess.
It's mocking writing. It's promising one thing to the viewer then jerking it away, ignoring set up, and mocking them for expecting what you promised. And it's what Miraculous does over and over and over again. It wants to be a dumb, shallow cartoon for grade schoolers that also demands to be taken seriously. It's like when Family Guy does "touching" episodes, it's trying to mash two things together that just don't work.
