Songs were great. 'You are not one of us' is honestly up there with best disney songs imo. Main characters were very likeable; Kiara's honestly one of the best disney pricesses in terms of being independent and sympathetic.
Good villain too. Also it's neat that since Lion King was a Hamlet adaptation, they went with a Romeo and Juliet thing for the sequel, though Disney can't really do the ending.
It's a shame they dumped it on video. If it were made now they would never do that (though if it were made now it would be horrifying CGI, so I'm glad it wasn't).
Only thing is... it's been a while since I've seen it. Do they ever clearly establish that Scar WASN'T Kovu's dad? Because if he is... I had to look a diagram for this, but that makes him Kiara's first cousin once removed. It makes sense in the context of lion prides and it's pretty culturally accepted in certain countries, but Americans would be weirded out. They could get away with it on a straight-video release since nobody watched it, but somebody wouldn't pitched a fit eventually if it reached the same board audience as the first movie.
Unless they put some kind of throw-away line in there to say that his dad wasn't Scar, I guess.
